Post-2021 Abbotsford install rules
After the November 2021 Sumas Prairie flood, the City of Abbotsford updated its mechanical permit requirements: any furnace install in a designated flood zone must sit on an elevated platform above the 200-year flood line, use sealed-combustion venting and have a flood-shutoff on the gas line.
We include all of this in the rental — there is no flood-zone surcharge.
Sumas Prairie homes and propane
Most Sumas Prairie homes run propane rather than natural gas. Tank protection — anchoring, vent extension above the flood line — is mandatory. We coordinate tank inspection with your propane supplier as part of the rental setup.
Abbotsford rebates
CleanBC and FortisBC rebates apply to qualifying high-efficiency Abbotsford installs. The City of Abbotsford also offers a separate flood-resilience grant that can be stacked on flood-zone installs — we file both on your behalf.
